Ordering repeat prescriptions
The easiest ways to order repeat prescriptions are:
- Via the NHS APP
- Online Form
- Email to: ciosicb.sunnysideprescriptions@nhs.net
- Click on the online consultation banner on the website front page and follow instructions to order repeat prescriptions
- Drop the request in to the practice. There are post boxes both inside and outside the building
- Post to the surgery
Whichever way you request your prescriptions please ensure you include the following:
- Full name
- Date of birth
- First line of address
- Name of each medication you require (small pink tablets, heart tablets, brown inhaler etc is NOT specific enough and is not safe)
- The name of the Pharmacy you would like to collect your prescription from.
Please note that we cannot accept requests over the telephone. This decision has been taken in the interest of accuracy and patient safety.
Collecting your prescription
You can usually collect your prescription from the pharmacy 5 working days after you have ordered it.
You will need to choose a pharmacy to collect your prescription from. We call this nominating a pharmacy.
You can change your nominated pharmacy at any time:
- on the app or website where you order repeat prescriptions
- at your GP practice
- at any pharmacy that accepts repeat prescriptions
Questions about your prescription
If you have questions about your medicine, your local pharmacists can answer these. They can also answer questions on medicines you can buy without a prescription.
The NHS website has information on how your medicine works, how and when to take it, possible side effects and answers to your common questions.
If you would like to speak to someone at the GP surgery about your prescription:
- please call us on 01736 363340 to book an appointment to discuss any queries with our Pharmacist
- email our pharmacist on ciosicb.sunnysideprescriptions@nhs.net
Collections
Whichever method you choose, please allow five full working days before repeat prescriptions are collected from the Pharmacy of your choice. This is the time it will take to process prescriptions at the practice and then at the Pharmacy. Please do not call the Pharmacy to check that the prescription is ready for collection as this is taking up valuable staff time and slowing down the dispensing of prescriptions.
Please use the table below to see when your prescription will be ready for collection.
Prescriptions received at the Surgery by 13:00 on | Will be ready for collection at the Pharmacy or Surgery the following |
Monday | Monday |
Tuesday | Tuesday |
Wednesday | Wednesday |
Thursday | Thursday |
Friday | Friday |
Medication reviews
If you have a repeat prescription, we may ask you to come in for a regular review. We will be in touch when you need to come in for a review.
Electronic Prescribing Service
This practice is set up for the electronic prescription service.
This means that for most patients we can send your prescription to your chosen chemist directly saving you having to come down to the surgery.
To get your prescription sent to your chosen pharmacy you will have to ask reception to sign up.

About pharmacists
As qualified healthcare professionals, pharmacists can offer advice on minor illnesses such as:
- coughs
- colds
- sore throats
- tummy trouble
- aches and pains
They can also advise on medicine that you can buy without a prescription.
Many pharmacies are open until late and at weekends. You do not need an appointment.
Most pharmacies have a private consultation room where you can discuss issues with pharmacy staff without being overheard.
