Flu Vaccination clinics for 2020.

Invitations have now been sent out to patients eligible for a free annual flu vaccination.

There are different clinics and vaccines for different age groups so please make sure you tell the receptionist your age when booking your appointment.

  • This year NHS England and Public Health England have recommended that patients over the age of 65 years receive  Adjuvented Trivalent Vaccine® as this is the most beneficial for patients in this age group.

  • Patients who are eligible for a flu vaccine who are under the age of 65 years will be vaccinated with a Quadrivalent vaccine, again the most beneficial for patients in this age group.

  • Children between the ages of 2-17 years in an 'at risk' group are eligible for a nasal flu vaccine Fluenz Tetra

The childrens' flu programme 2020/21 will be delivered as follows:

    • Two and three years old (but not four years or older on 31.08.20) will be vaccinated at the surgery with the nasal spray

    • Children in school years Reception to Year 7 will be offered nasal vaccination in school.  The surgery is not commissioned to provide vaccinations for these children.

Please telephone the surgery with any flu vaccination queries you might have.

Sunnyside will always follow Public Health England Guidelines on inviting patients for the National Flu Vaccination Program.  We are not commissioned to administer vaccines to our patients outside of the Program who may wish to pay for vaccination privately.  Patients wishing to pay for a private flu vaccination can attend another Practice or a Pharmacy to have this done.
