Feedback from our latest campaign to recruit patients for our Patient Participation Group (PPG) has shown that patients would like to be involved but often do not have time to attend the Surgery for meetings. In response to this Sunnyside will also form a ‘virtual group’ where members are contacted from time to time by email asking them to complete a survey or give their opinion about on a topic, such as extended opening hours or services offered at the surgery.
We would like a group that is representative of all our patients; patients from all age groups, parents, carers, patients with disabilities, and patients from ethnic backgrounds.
If you would like to become a member of Sunnyside's Patient Patient Group (PPG)or Virtual Group (VPG), where all contact is via email, please go to the 'Patient Group Sign up' tab and complete the form, or give your name and email address at reception. For more information please contact Lin Rees, Practice Manager on 01736 363340
Common Patient Questions and Answers
Q. What is a patient group/patient participation group?
A. This is a group of volunteer patients who are involved in making sure the surgery provides the services it's patients need.
Q. Why do we need patient's contact details?
A. We would like to be able to contact patients occasionally to ask them questions about the surgery and how well we are doing in order to identify areas for improvement and ensure that changes that are being made are patient focused.
Q. Will the questions asked be medical or personal?
A. We will only ask general questions about the practice.
Q. How often will patient's be contacted?
A. Not very often, maybe once every three to four months.
Q. What if a patient wants to leave the group or the surgery?
A. We will ask you to let us know by email if you do not wish to receive further messages.
We would like to know how we can improve our service to you and how you perceive our surgery and staff.
To help us with this, we are setting up a patient representation group so that you can have your say. We will ask the members of this representative group to meetings a few times a year and some questions from time to time, such as what you think about our opening times or the quality of the care or service you received. We will contact you via email and keep our surveys succinct so it shouldn't take too much of your time.
We aim to gather around a hundred patients from as broad a spectrum as possible to get a truly representative sample. We need young people, workers, retirees, people with long term conditions and people from non-British ethnic groups.
